Support Mo
I met Mohammad “Mo” Hasan Nasir a few months back in late Summer 2025 in connection to KOHA kitchen, a get-together lunch hosted by BASE Graz (Base Graz – Connecting Cultures, Creating Communities). I remember his kindness and warm aura when he explained to me what he had cooked, what to pair it and how he enjoyed eating it most. We connected over our shared love for food and communities.
I met him again at another BASE event and found out that he was also a curious creative soul - never not wanting to learn new things, an artist, a DJ, a podcast host, a volunteer - an integral member of the BASE Graz community. We spent an hour talking about how to shoot videos, what camera gear we used and how we edited our footage. Our conversation was lighthearted, all while eating lunch together.
The third time I met Mo, I saw him help out once more, always on the move, being stopped every now and again to receive warm greetings from other guests of the charity dinner, running back and forth between setting up microphones for the musicians who were to perform at the charity event and going back to clean up dishes. He did all that while smiling and laughing with others.

Now Mo is running the risk of being deported back to Iran, because he has been denied asylum in Austria.
A country where he is no longer safe in as a political activist and artist. It is time for us to come together as a community, strangers or not, and help Mo!
