Food Spotlight: Liming Spot

I visited Liming Spot on Saturday May 31st 2025 to try out their KleinKlein (literally translates to “small small”) dinner, featuring 9 courses for a limited amount of guests with reservations only. The menu is presented at the table right before the dinner starts and changes with each KleinKlein event.

This is what I ate:

  1. melon and sheep cheese salad

  2. carrot soup with ginger and coconut

  3. coconut shrimp with garlic mayo

  4. cream cheese filled gnocchi with sautéd asparagus and leek

  5. sorbet

  6. salmon trout with hibiscus sauce and rice

  7. braised veal shanks with velvet potatoes

  8. strawberry flambé and safran kulfi

  9. death by chocolate

My thoughts on the food

Chef Andreas and Bevil work together to serve a culinary experience you cannot find elsewhere like this in Graz, Austria. The flavors of the dishes are well-balanced, and even in textures you find surprises like: toasted coconut seeds, warm strawberries with a cold kulfi, and the softest melt-in-your-mouth potatoes.

Do not underestimate the amount of 8 small plates! Especially, because later when the veal was served, Chef Andreas asked guests if they wanted more of the dish and served whatever the guests preferred - more protein, more potatoes - the answer to all, was YES.

What I also found really thoughtful and incredibly flexible was that upon booking your table you can let the staff know about any food allergies as well as dietary restrictions or preferences. Thus, the Liming Spot team would have also been able to cater to e.g. vegetarians on the spot! Chef Andreas personally went to all guests individually and asked once more before any dish was served, if anything was to be noted for the staff.

I especially enjoy their homemade drinks such as Bush tea (includes honey, slices of oranges and lemon, hot water and a sprig of thyme), or their homemade ice tea. And if you are a fan of a bit of spice, ask the staff for their homemade hot sauce, it’s always a different one, yet always delicious! ;)

If you are a fan of well-seasoned food and have a curious mind to get surprised by flavor pairings such as fish with hibiscus sauce (a fantastic combination by the way), definitely consider Liming Spot to be your next food spot to check out!

Service and ambience

Liming Spot is a cozy restaurant with tables that are often rearranged to accommodate larger or smaller group sizes. There was neither a minimum nor maximum amount of people needed for you to be able to enjoy any of their meals. I enjoyed KleinKlein all by myself and it was a delight!

The staff members are incredibly attentive and you will even see the chefs come out of the kitchen to serve the food to you. Time wise, I’d say: Liming spot is perfect for days when there is no rush. With a small crew, there is only so much that can be prepped and served at the same time. However, the quality of the food will be top notch.

Stay for a while and talk to the crew when there is time and you’ll find yourself immersed in stories about art, the Carribean way of life and the passion for good food.

Conclusion

If I haven’t made it clear by now: KleinKlein was a delightful culinary experience that left me feeling full to the brim. I can warmly recommend coming here by yourself or with a bunch of loved ones to enjoy lunch or dinner, especially when you want some time to catch up with them.

The cozy atmosphere and and design of the space accompanied by good tunes offers the feeling of a good vacation. Liming Spot’s meals are divers and change every week as well as with every event and range from classic Austrian dishes to a fusion kitchen - all made with loads of love and effort.
